SUMMARY:OWL: Maternal Mental Health
DESCRIPTION:Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) are the most common complication of pregnancy. 1 in 7 moms and 1 in 10 dads suffer from postpartum depression yet only 40% of mothers will seek treatment for their depression. While pregnancy and childbirth can be an exciting and celebratory time for mothers and families\, PMADs can have profound adverse effects on the women\, children\, and their family’s mental\, physical\, and emotional health. Join us as we discuss common perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and also look at effective screening tools to utilize. Participants will learn to understand the prevalence of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs)\, describe common PMADs and their signs\, symptoms\, and treatment options\, and demonstrate effective ways to screen for postpartum depression using the Edinburgh Screening Tool. \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nThis program is part of MHAG’s Outreach Wellness Learning (OWL) Series
